Why do offtrack students need to stay in approved housing?

If I am offtrack while attending BYU-I, do I need to stay in approved housing? If yes, why do I need to stay in approved housing?

I go to BYU-Idaho and never heard of that before. In my experience you can stay anywhere you like when you are offtrack, as long as you pay for it. If you decide to go to school though, and are under 27y of age, then you would need to live in approved housing. If you do not go to school, then you can live anywhere you like, in whatever country you like
